Happy Monday, Coronation Families!
Today marks the start of Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week. As a school community, it is vital that we recognize and respond to any and all acts of bullying in order to ensure Coronation remains a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who enters our building.
Every morning on our announcements this week students will learn about bullying, what it looks like, feels like and sounds like and the forms it can take (i.e., physical, verbal, cyber, etc.). Students will learn about what they can do if they experience bullying as well as how to support peers who may be experiencing bullying.
I have also made a call out to all of our Kindergarten to Grade 6 Artists looking for Media works of Art to help communicate the message that Bullying has no place at Coronation. Watch our Instagram Page for student submissions.

Dime Drive – Ms Casale’s Room 12 Dime Drive is back!
Mrs Casale’s class is working on their math skills with a focus on working with tenths (counting by tens, exploring decimals 0.10 and fractions as tenths. In an effort to expand on their learning and to support Coronation, they are holding a dime drive in order to raise funds to buy two new hockey nets for our gym classes.
The dime drive began on Nov 14 and runs until Thursday, November 21st. If you would like to support our dime drive, dimes will be collected this week. Thank you for supporting our Dime Drive in support of 2 new Hockey Nets.
School Photo Retakes
If your child missed their photo and/or you would like a retake, our retake day will be Wednesday, November 20. Retakes will happen in the afternoon on Wednesday in our library.
Smencils for Nutrition 4 Learning
Nutrition 4 Learning is a very important part of our Coronation. Every day we provide snack options for all students at Coronation. Classes keep a bin of non-perishable items (i.e. cheerios, granola bars, melba toast, etc.) in their classrooms which can be refilled when needed. Each day, grade five and six volunteers fill and deliver additional snack items (i.e., cheese strings, yogurt tubes, fruit, etc.) to classes. We do receive some funding from the government and also through WRDSB’s WEFI charity. https://www.wrdsb.ca/wefi/
Typically this isn’t enough to fund our Nutrition Program each year. To support this very important program, Coronation’s Leadership Team will be selling SMENCILS to raise money for our Nutrition 4 Learning program. Smencils are Scented Pencils. They will be sold for $2.00 each or you can purchase 3 for $5.00. All proceeds will be going to Nutrition for Learning. Please see this student created poster for more information: https://www.school-day.com/mod/file/download.php?file_guid=3021443

Congratulations to the two families who have already won a free pass to the event. We will have one more draw for a free Family ticket and that will occur on Wednesday.
Booster Juice for November
After trialing Booster Juice during the month of November, we will be offering it again, this time each week for the month of December.
In November we charged $5.00 for 8 oz smoothies and $6.00 for 12 oz smoothies. This resulted in profits of $0.14 and $0.16 per smoothie. Due to the cost associated with using School Day for sales, Coronation was unable to retain any profits from our sales and have thus increased the cost for smoothies going forward. Because of this we have increased the cost of smoothies to $5.50 for an 8 oz smoothie and $6.50 for a 12 oz smoothie.
Profits raised will go to lowering the cost per student for our Grade 6 Camp trip in the Spring.
School Day will offer Booster Juice sales beginning this afternoon.
