Happy Monday, Coronation Families,

Just as quickly as the snow arrived, it has disappeared again!  Our grounds are very wet and muddy and will likely remain this way all week. If your child doesn’t already have a change of clothes at school, we encourage you to send one along just in case they get wet or muddy.

Thank you to the families who joined us on Friday in the library for our first Coffee and Community Connections event. It was great to connect with you and we look forward to our next gathering in February.

Messages from the Office

A Message About Holiday Treats

Throughout the school year, we have many opportunities to celebrate special events as a school community. In the past, some families have sent treats for the class, and while we appreciate the gesture, we kindly ask that families not send treats (edible or non-edible) for birthdays or other events. This aligns with our commitment to promoting equity, ensuring the safety of students with allergies, and encouraging healthy eating habits in line with Canada’s Food Guide. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Safety Reminders for All

With the winter weather comes additional measures to ensure student, staff and visitor safety. Thank you for your adherence to the following:

Parking Lot Use

Coronation’s parking lot is reserved for staff use only. To ensure everyone’s safety, we kindly ask families to avoid using the driveway and parking lot during drop-off (8:30–9:20 AM) and pick-up times (2:50–3:30 PM), except for those with Accessible Parking Permits.

This request is especially important due to the high volume of student foot traffic in these areas. Snowy conditions can make it even harder for vehicles to stop quickly, increasing the risk of accidents.

For parking, please use Concession Road or the neighbouring church parking lot. A special thank you to Mrs. Hanna, our Parking Lot Monitor, for helping keep our lot safe for everyone.

Creative Playground Structures

Just a reminder that with our snow and ice our creative playgrounds on upper and lower campuses are closed. Thank you for respecting our safety expectations and remaining off of the creative structure before and after school as the ice and snow add a slip and fall risk.

Sledding & Sliding on Coronation Property

We appreciate that our large snow hills are a favorite spot for families to enjoy sledding and tobogganing during evenings and weekends. However, the hills are off-limits during school hours, before school in the morning, and until 3:20 PM after school. Students sledding after 3:20 PM must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

If you choose to use the hills during non-school hours, please be mindful of potential hazards at the bottom of the hill and sled at your own risk. We also ask that you respect the grounds by keeping the space safe and clean for others to enjoy.

Thank you for helping us ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone who uses our grounds.

Messages from School Council

Our favourite winter event, The Holiday Store, is just around the corner.

The Office is currently collecting donations of gently used or new items for our Holiday Store.
