Dear Cool Cat Families,

Welcome to June. It is hard to believe we are in our last month of the school year. I don’t know about you, but we feel like this year went by very quickly.

Thank you for helping make last Wednesday’s STEMovation such a wonderful success! We are especially grateful to the many family members who braved the rain to join us—your presence and support helped create an afternoon full of curiosity, connection, and hands-on learning.

A special thank you as well to the families of our newest Cool Cats who joined us for Welcome to Kindergarten following the event. It was a pleasure to meet so many new students, and we’re excited to welcome you into our school community.

We have a busy and exciting month ahead, and this letter is packed with information to help keep you up to date on all that’s happening at Coronation.

Messages from the Office

Welcome to our Newest Cool – Duck

We’re excited to share that one of our duck eggs hatched over the weekend! It turns out only one egg was fertilized and made it to the hatching stage—so we now have one fluffy little duckling at Coronation!

This week, classes will have a chance to meet and learn about the duckling before it returns to the farm to join the other ducks.

Check out our Instagram for some great pictures of our newest little visitor!

Coronation Family Picnic – Thursday, June 12, 2025 | 1:45 PM – 3:05 PM

We are excited to welcome families to Coronation’s annual Family Picnic on Thursday, June 12, as we celebrate the end of the 2024–2025 school year together! Families are invited to join us on the Primary Tarmac and Upper Campus beginning at 1:45 PM.

Please bring a blanket or something to sit on, refillable water bottles, and food or snacks for your family. Please note: there will be no food or beverage sales at this event.

Here’s what to look forward to:

Time to relax and connect with your child and our school community

Outdoor activities to enjoy together as a family

Our Clothing Swap in the gym — bring a reusable bag and take home gently used clothing items for your family. Donations have been gathered since the winter, and we will continue to accept final donations until Friday, June 6

An RSVP form will be coming home shortly. Please return it asap to let us know if your family plans to attend.

Coronation Talent Show – Save the Date!

We are excited to share that Coronation’s annual Talent Show is just around the corner! Families are warmly invited to attend on Wednesday, June 24th during the first block of the day (8:45 – 10:45 AM). We will confirm the exact start time once the number and length of performances are finalized.

Each Grade 1–6 class will be contributing up to two student acts, selected through classroom-based auditions. Please note that not all students will be performing, but all students will attend the show as part of the audience. Families of performers are especially encouraged to join us for this fun and memorable event!

We can’t wait to see the creativity, talent, and courage our Cool Cats bring to the stage.

Grade 6 Graduation Celebration

Our Grade 6 Celebration will take place on Monday, June 23, during the first block, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the gym. Families are invited to join us for a short ceremony followed by light refreshments. The event will conclude by our first nutrition break.

Library Countdown

Library Book Countdown – Time to Return!

As we head into the final weeks of school, it’s time to begin returning library books. Please help us ensure all books make it back to the library by following these dates:

Starting June 2:

All students may borrow 1 book only, and books should stay at school

Final Due Dates:

June 13 – All student library books must be returned

June 18 – All staff library books must be returned

Thank you for helping us keep our library organized and ready for next year!

School Supply Drive

As families prepare in the summer for Back to School, there is a push from many stores for families to buy “back to school supplies” for their children. Many of these stores even have “shopping lists” for families. With the cost of things increasing, these shopping lists are unrealistic for families. At Coronation, it is important for students to have footwear to wear outside and a different pair for inside. We also recommend that students have something to carry their lunch and their belongings like a backpack and lunch bag. No other supplies are required.

We do recognise that some families will choose to purchase school supplies for their children and that is great! In an effort to support all families, Coronation is holding a School Supply Drive from now until the end of September. We will be collecting supplies to be distributed amongst classes to ensure everyone has access to new supplies in September.

Please consider donating to our School Supply Drive. We are looking for the following items:

Crayons, pencils, pencil crayons, erasers, glue sticks, tape, kleenex, binders, highlighters, markers, dry erase markers, duotangs and folders. Donations can be dropped off at the office.

Thank you in advance for your support with this.

Sunscreen Reminder

As the weather gets warmer, we encourage families to apply sunscreen to their child before school each day. If you are sending sunscreen for reapplication, please ensure it is a non-aerosol kind and labelled with your child’s name. Staff are not able to apply sunscreen for students, but we will remind them to reapply when needed.
