August 29th, 2025
Dear Coronation Families,
I hope that you have had a wonderful and healthy summer.
Coronation staff have been working very hard in preparation to safely welcome back our students for the 2025/2026 school year.
It is my intention to communicate with families on a weekly basis through a Letter to Families sent home through School Day. This letter will also be posted to our school website www.cor.wrdsb.ca
I encourage you to subscribe to our website in order to stay up to date with information from Coronation and WRDSB.
In this letter, we hope to provide you with important information to help you and your child(ren) prepare for the start back to school.
Welcoming our New Staff
Welcome to the following NEW Cool Cat Staff Members

When Does my Child go to School?
All students attending in person will start on Wednesday, September 3th.
Our school day starts at 8:45 AM and ends at 3:05 PM.
On the first day of school, classroom teachers will be on the tarmac with signs indicating their homeroom, beginning at 8:30 AM. Additional staff will be outside directing students and families to their appropriate teacher. Please look for signs and Coronation staff wearing safety vests.
At 8:45 AM we will have a brief welcome assembly, sing our school song and say goodbye to our families before going into our classes.
Who is my Child’s Teacher?
To comply with privacy legislation, class lists will no longer be posted on the outside windows or doors of your child’s school. At your convenience starting September 3 and throughout the day, you will be able to determine your child’s homeroom teacher using School-Day.
When you log into your account, click “Schools and Groups” on the blue left hand side menu, then click “Your Classes.” This will show the classes and groups your child is linked to within our school. Homeroom names are in the form of K2, 1A, 4/5A, etc.
Once you have determined the homeroom, you can find the name of the homeroom teacher using the following list:
Kuljit Mehan/ Amanda Boynton – K1 Room 2
Kim Prickett Hart (DECE Donna Hoff & Sarah Hamel) – K2 Room 18
Lauren Green (DECE Lindsay Jenkyn & Cathy Hacking) – K3 Room 19
Kendra Kovats – 1A Room 15
Shannon Pearle – 1B Room 14

A great deal of thought and care goes into the student placement process. We do not accept requests for class changes during the first weeks of school, as we anticipate additional registrations during this time. Should you have concerns with your child’s placement, please understand that changes are only considered once enrollment has been submitted to and confirmed by the school board in mid-September.
*Note – due to ongoing registrations class lists are subject to change
What Does Nutrition Break Look Like?
Nutrition breaks occur twice a day at 10:45 and 1:25. Grade 1 – 6 students begin by eating in their classrooms for 20 minutes and then have 20 minutes outside to play. Primary students (Grades 1-3) will play on upper campus, while our juniors (Grades 4 – 6) will play on lower campus and the tarmac at the top of lower campus. We have an area on our tarmac where primary students and juniors can play together as well.
We will continue with our Boomerang Lunch: As always, we are insisting that all items that come in a child’s lunch are returned in the lunch bag to dispose of at home. Everything that is brought to school will be returned with the students (i.e., food waste, packaging). We know that this can sometimes be messy, using baggies for containers or using reusable containers with lids will help students to minimize the mess.
What Should my Child Bring to School?
- A change of clothes for younger children (in a well-labelled zip lock bag)
- Indoor and outdoor shoes
- A refillable water bottle
- Food/ Snacks for two Nutrition Breaks
- Something to carry their belongings (i.e., backpack)
What Should my Child Leave at Home?
- We ask that students refrain from bringing toys, sports equipment, and personal items to school as we cannot be held responsible for lost or damaged items
- Nut and Peanut Products
- Heavily scented products
- Weapons, alcohol, smoking or vaping materials, drugs are not permitted on school property. The only exception is medication stored and administered at the office which must be by a completed Medication Administration Form, available through the main office.
Cell Phones
Students are not permitted to use personal mobile devices (cell phones, Apple watch, etc.) during school hours.
We understand that some students own cell phones or other personal mobile devices.
For parents/guardians, this means safety and security for when you want to have ready access and contact with your children. We prefer that students leave their phones and other personal mobile devices at home. Should your child need to bring their cell phone to school, we ask that they drop it off at the office for the day. Should you need to be in contact with your child during the school day, please call the school line. 519-653-1141
Parking Lot Safety
Please remember that our parking lot is for staff only. When picking up or dropping off your child, please park on a side street and walk on to school property. Our parking lot monitor and green turtles with flags are visual reminders for all families to park along Concession Road or in the neighbouring Church or the former Kinsman Centre. Bylaw will be supporting Coronation to ensure the safety of all who walk through our parking.
Dogs on School Property
We know that dogs and other pets are a special part of many families; however, they are not permitted on school property during school hours. The only exception is for service or support animals, with appropriate documentation provided and verified through the school office.
Student Information Forms
On the first day of school, students will bring home and information regarding Student Insurance.
Students with a Plan of Care (anaphylaxis or significant medical conditions) will bring home a Plan of Care for review and to be returned to the main office as soon as possible.
If your child has a significant medical condition and does not have a Plan of Care please inform the office in order for one to be put into place.
The following forms will be available on School Day and must be completed as soon as possible.
