Hello Coronation Families,

Welcome to a new week at Coronation! We’ve had a busy and exciting stretch of learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

Last Monday, Ms. Taylor’s, Ms. Crossey’s, and Mrs. Harrington’s classes enjoyed an exciting fall field trip to Benjamin Tree Farm. Students learned all about pumpkins and pumpkin farming, explored the corn maze, and discovered more about how trees grow and the important role farms play in our community. It was a perfect mix of hands-on learning and fall fun!

At the end of last week and again today, our Grade 5/6 and Grade 6 students had the wonderful opportunity to participate in a photography workshop and field trip experience. Students explored the elements and principles of art and design, learned how a camera works, and practiced capturing creative compositions. The highlight of the day was a walking trip to Riverside Park, where students put their new skills into action—snapping photos of nature, textures, and shapes all around them. Back at school, they had the chance to edit their images and reflect on their artistic choices. It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience that blended creativity, curiosity, and community!

A big thank-you goes out to all of our parent and family volunteers whose time and support helped make these trips such a success.

School Council News

We’re so grateful for our Coronation School Council and the incredible work they continue to do to support our students, families, and school community. This year, we’re excited to share that our council will operate as a collaborative group of co-chairs. Our co-chairs for the 2025–2026 school year are Rebecca D., Chantelle B., Tyler S., and Jessica B.

We extend our sincere thanks to all of our School Council members for volunteering their time and energy to make a difference.

We’re also pleased to share that Jessica B. will serve as Treasurer, and Revathi P. will serve as Secretary.

In addition to our co-chairs, our parent and family representatives include Partap K., Ashley N., Inkel K., and Yenni C. We also thank Candice A. and Cassandra J. for representing both parents and WRDSB. Our Coronation representatives are Alaena Cabral., Raegan White., and J-R Baer.

We always welcome new parent and family reps to join our council.

Our next in-person School Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the Coronation Library. Families are warmly invited to attend in person, or you can tune in virtually—the livestream link will be available in the Coronation Calendar on our school website. We look forward to connecting, sharing ideas, and planning together for another great year at Coronation.

Our next big School Council event is just around the corner! On Friday, November 21, we’ll host our Family Movie Night Fundraiser, featuring the Lilo & Stitch remake. Tickets are on sale today through School-Day.

We hope to see many of our Coronation families there for an evening of fun, food, and community spirit!

Halloween Costumes & Spirit Days

Halloween is this Friday, October 31st. Students are welcome to wear a Halloween costume on this day should they wish to.

Please take the following into consideration for all Coronation spirit days:

  • Costumes should not cover students’ faces, allowing students to see, communicate, and travel safely throughout the school
  • Costumes should not portray violence or mature themes
  • Costumes should not include weapons
  • Costumes should not appropriate another’s culture, race, religion, etc.
  • Please ensure your child is able to change in and out of their costume on their own should they need to

A Message About Treats

Throughout the school year, we have many opportunities to celebrate special events as a school community. In the past, some families have sent treats for the class, and while we appreciate the gesture, we kindly ask that families not send treats (edible or non-edible) for birthdays, Halloween, valentines day, or other events. This aligns with our commitment to promoting equity, ensuring the safety of students with allergies, and encouraging healthy eating habits in line with Canada’s Food Guide. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
