Good Morning Coronation Families,

Happy November! This month marks Hindu Heritage Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions of Hindu Canadians to our communities and to learn more about the rich traditions, values, and history of Hindu culture.

As we settle into November, we’d also like to offer a gentle reminder about Halloween candy at school. While we know many students are still enjoying their treats, please help us by limiting the amount of candy your child brings each day. We want to support healthy eating habits and minimize distractions in the classroom.  Thank you for ensuring that all nut products remain at home.

Last week was filled with creativity and connection across our school community. Mrs. Dalvi, a Coronation parent and author of The Old Lady and the Pumpkin Story, visited Room 15 to share her book, which was inspired by a folktale from her childhood. Students loved hearing her story and learning what it’s like to bring a book to life.

In preparation for Friday’s Spirit Assembly, Mrs. Maan’s music students worked together on a multimedia performance of Try Everything. Their collaboration combined singing, percussion, motivational posters, and a slideshow — a wonderful celebration of teamwork and perseverance.

During the assembly, we also introduced November’s character trait and teaching of Respect. Students watched a video featuring an Indigenous Elder who shared the story of the Buffalo and its important message about respect, courage, and community.

Messages from the Office

System Navigator Visit

We’re looking forward to welcoming WRDSB System Navigators — Phyllis Peprah, Jess Kumordzie, and Rihanat El-Alawa — to Coronation on Tuesday. The System Navigators support African, Caribbean, Black, and Muslim students and families, working with schools to strengthen connections, build trust, and ensure that all students feel a deep sense of belonging and support at school.

Their visit provides an opportunity for our school staff to learn more about how the System Navigators partner with families and educators to navigate school processes, celebrate identity, and address barriers that may impact student success. We’re excited to connect, collaborate, and continue growing our collective understanding of how to create an inclusive and equitable school environment for everyone.
