Happy Friday, Coronation Families,
We have had a full and exciting week at Coronation. This week, Term 1 report cards and Kindergarten Communication of Learning were sent home. If you have any questions, would like clarification, or want to talk more about your child’s progress, I encourage you to reach out directly to your child’s educator. Ongoing communication between home and school is an important part of supporting student success.
This week also marked the 100th day of school. It is hard to believe we are already here. Many classes recognized the day in a variety of creative and fun ways. During our morning announcements this week we tracked Team Canada in the olympics and learned about five inspirational young Black Canadians: Kiana Madeira, Tij Iginla, Cameron Davis, Sedina Fiati, and Sarah Nurse. Families are invited to check out our Instagram to learn more.
As we move into the long weekend and look ahead to the coming week, we also recognize that several important celebrations and observances are beginning, including Maha Shivaratri, Lunar New Year Ramadan, and Losar. We wish all members of our community who are marking these occasions time for reflection, celebration, and meaningful moments with family and loved ones.

Messages from the Office
Cool Cat Winter Olympics
This Friday, we will be celebrating the Winter Olympics with our own Cool Cat Olympics. To allow more time for activities, our first nutrition break will begin earlier, running from 10:15 a.m. – 10:55 a.m. Following the nutrition break a flameless torch relay will lead classes into the gym followed by Winter Olympic – themed rotations both indoors and outdoors, throughout the middle block of our day. One rotation will include time at the School Council–hosted dance, Cool Cat Dance for the Gold. There is no cost to attend the dance.
Students will be spending extra time outside, so please ensure they are dressed for the weather. Extra layers and an extra pair of socks are recommended.
School Council will also be selling farm-to-table popcorn for $2 per bag during nutrition breaks on Friday. Flavours include buttered salt, white cheddar, dill pickle, and sweet and salty.
Supporting Students During Ramadan
Students who are observing Ramadan will have access to a quiet and private space for prayer, as well as the option of a separate, comfortable space during the eating portion of Nutrition Break if they are fasting. Participation in these accommodations is always optional and guided by student comfort and family. If your child has specific needs or if you would like to discuss additional supports, please feel free to reach out to Principal Baer. We value working in partnership with families to ensure all students feel seen, respected, and supported.
School Council Update
School Council is looking for volunteers to help support at the dance on Friday. Please contact a member of School Council or the main office if you’re interested in volunteering.
Finally, stay tuned for some exciting Cool Cat merchandise opportunities. Coronation Cool Cat Croc shoe charms are on route!
