What School Staff Are Learning on the PD Day

Friday, November 1, 2024, is a professional development (PD) day for elementary and secondary school staff.

Students will not attend school, in person or virtually

All board-operated Extended Day and Youth Development programs will be closed

PD days are held throughout the school year to provide learning opportunities for school-based staff. This professional learning focuses on providing educators and staff with the knowledge and skills needed to support and enhance student achievement and well being.

Dressing up for Spirit Days and Celebrations

On Halloween, students are welcome to wear their regular clothes, a costume, or dress in black and orange.

Please take the following into consideration for Halloween as well as all Coronation spirit days:

Costumes should not cover students’ faces

Costumes should not portray violence or mature themes

Costumes should not include weapons

Costumes should not cause harm (i.e., appropriate another’s culture, race, religion, etc.)

Please ensure your child is able to change in and out of their costume on their own should they need to.

Treats, Gifts, Celebrations and Birthdays

Throughout the school year, there are many special events we look forward to celebrating together. We understand that families may wish to send treats (both edible and non-edible) to share with the class; however, to support equity, allergy safety, and align with the healthy eating standards in Canada’s Food Guide, we ask that treats not be sent for birthdays or other celebrations. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office.

Please note that any treats sent to school will be returned home with your child. We appreciate your understanding in helping us maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all.

Spirit Wear

Spirit Wear has arrived! Spirit wear was delivered to classes at the end of the day on Friday. This means some classes may have had the opportunity to send home spirit wear with students. Not to worry, if it didn’t come home on Friday, it will come home with students today. If you have any concerns with your spiritwear, please reach out to the main office.

School Photos

Individual photo proofs will be coming home today. If you would like to purchase school photos, please follow the instructions included in your photo proof package. Orders must be submitted online by – 11th.

If your child missed their photo and/or you would like a retake, our retake day will be Wednesday, November 20.
