Happy Monday, Coronation Families,

Welcome to December!

The snow has arrived and it has brought with it added outdoor fun during Nutrition Breaks. Thank you, parents and guardians, for sending students prepared to be outside at breaks and outdoor play time, in warm, winter clothing.

Students who plan on playing in the snow, sliding on it or building with it, must be wearing snow pants and have heads and hands covered (hats and mitts). Winter weather footwear is also a must to prevent ice and snow from being brought into our classrooms.

Just a reminder that with our snow and ice our creative playgrounds on upper and lower campuses are closed. Thank you for respecting our safety expectations and remaining off of the creative structure before and after school as the ice and snow add a slip and fall risk.

We appreciate that our large snow hills are a favourite place for families to come on evenings and weekends to sled and toboggan. The use of the hill by the public is off limits during school hours. If you choose to use the hill for sledding during non-school hours, please be aware of the hazards at the bottom of the hill and slide at your own risk. We ask that if you come to our property to sled, you respect the grounds and leave the space a safe and clean place for others to enjoy.

In addition, please remember during the morning before school starts, that our snow hills are off limits. We do not have supervision on the lower field and cannot safely monitor students playing before school.

Smencil Sales

Smencil sales will continue to be sold on Thursdays each week until we run out of product. Smencils continue to be sold for $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00 with all profits going to Coronation’s Nutrition For Learning.

A Message from Public Health

As you may know, mail service is currently unavailable through Canada Post. During this time, Public Health will be sending home important letters through your child’s school instead of mailing them. Students may receive a letter about:

  • Incomplete vaccination records
  • Vision screening results
  • Dental screening

Please check your child’s backpack regularly for any letters they may have received at school.

If you have any questions about a letter you received, or if you were expecting a letter and did not receive one, please call 519-575-4400.

Thank you,

Region of Waterloo Public Health
