Hello Coronation Families,

Please use this letter as an update on what’s happening in our school as well as upcoming events and important reminders. If you have trouble reading my letters on School Day, they are also posted on our website cor.wrdsb.ca

Friday was Custodial Appreciation Day and we celebrated Mr. Flett and Mr. Trudel. Students were invited to sign cards to show their appreciation and both Mr. Flett and Mr. Trudel shared their gratitude for the many messages of thanks and kindness.

As I shared last week, as a result of increased enrolment, Coronation will be reorganizing some classes, as well as adding an additional class and teacher in our junior grades.

This change will require some students to move to different classes. I have been collaborating with our teachers and special education team as we carefully consider each student’s academic, social, and emotional needs to ensure they are placed in the best possible learning environment.

Families of students in primary grades, if your child is impacted, you would have received confirmation on Friday. Families of students impacted in the junior grades, once we complete our hiring process this week, I will connect with you directly.

We understand that transitions can require adjustment and will support students throughout the process, including opportunities to meet their new teacher and visit their new classroom before the transition.

As a reminder, student health and well-being supports and resources are available to families through our Mental Health and Well-being website.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we implement these changes.

Teacher Candidates Practicing at Coronation – Correction

Last week I shared that Coronation was welcoming student teacher candidates to Coronation from Laurier and Queens Universities.

I neglected to include that Ms Taylor was also welcoming a student teacher candidate.

Coronation welcomes Ms Amna Syeda, learning alongside Mrs Pearle; Ms Ria Bajwa, former Coronation student, learning alongside Ms Taylor; Ms Stephanie Ahn, learning alongside Ms Casale and Ms Angelina De Luca, learning alongside Mrs Kovats.

Upcoming Safety Drills

Coronation holds safety drills throughout the school year. We will be holding two safety drills this week: a fire drill on Monday and a lockdown drill on Thursday.

Before each drill begins, an announcement is made over the PA system to outline what students will hear and what steps will follow. Educators are then given time to review the procedure in their classrooms and to support any students who may need accommodations—for example, noise-cancelling headphones or other sensory supports.

Please note that our drills are not intended to surprise or frighten students We plan them carefully with sensitivity to students’ needs and always provide reassurance and advance notice. If you have any questions or concerns about these upcoming drills, you are welcome to contact your child’s teacher or the office directly.

Coronation Needs A New Playground – Value Village Fundraiser

Thank you to those who have already dropped off donations for our fundraiser.

Coronation is teaming with Value Village to fundraise for our next playground.

We continue to collect your used items which will be brought to Value Village at the end of November and we will be paid for them by the pound!

Soft items like clothing, bedding, and other household textiles will earn us ten cents a pound.

Hard items like household goods, VHS, CDs, magazines, books and small appliances will earn us twenty cents a pound.

Please help us by gathering items from family and friends and drop them off at Coronation. When packing up your donations, please sort goods into soft and hard items.
