Hello Coronation Families,
Please use this letter as an update on what’s happening in our school as well as upcoming events and important reminders. If you have trouble reading my letters on School Day, they are also posted on our website COR.WRDSB.CA
Last week was a great week at Coronation. Students and staff celebrated the start of another school year with performances from The Saidat Show and DJ K Z. We also had a hip hop dance lesson where students learned the Running Man, Cabbage Patch and other dance moves.
Thank you to all of the families who joined us at this it Open House. We are always grateful for the incredible turn out our events produce.
On Friday we gathered in the gym for our first Spirit Assembly and saw performances by Mme Mehan’s grade 4 French students and Mrs Greenwoods grade 2 and 3 music students. Students ‘Deserving of Recognition’ were recognized and we awarded the Golden Boot, Broom, Boomerang and Golden Hallway awards!

MESSAGES FROM THE OFFICE
Terry Fox Run
On Monday, Coronation students and staff will be participating in our annual Terry Fox Run and Fundraiser, “Toonies for Terry,” to raise money for cancer research.
Please ensure that your child wears running shoes, has a water bottle, and is dressed for the weather. We are also asking everyone to wear red to show their support.

Teacher Candidates Practicing at Coronation
Starting on Monday, we welcome three student teacher candidates to Coronation. These students come to us from Laurier and Queens Universities.
Teacher candidates will work and learn alongside Mrs Kovats, Mrs Pearle and Ms Casale.
Coronation Needs A New Playground
Did you know that you can help us build a new playground, simply by donating your used clothing, household goods, small appliances, books, magazines, and electronics?
Coronation is teaming with Value Village to fundraise for our next playground. We will be collecting your used items and Value Village will pay us by the pound!
Soft items like clothing, bedding, and other household textiles will earn us ten cents a pound.
Hard items like household goods, VHS, CDs, magazines, books and small appliances will earn us twenty cents a pound.
Please help us by gathering items from family and friends and drop them off at Coronation. When packing up your donations, please sort goods into soft and hard items.
Join Our School Council
Coronation School Council has its first meeting on October 28 at 6 PM in our library. We encourage you to join us. There is no commitment, necessary, come for one meeting or come monthly. Your input and feedback is welcomed. We will be nominating and voting for our Co Chairs, Secretary, and Treasurer at this meeting. If you’d like to join us virtually, we will be sharing the live stream link closer to the date.
